What is VayLoLo?

VayLoLo is an online version of the classic 20 questions game. You think of an object, and VayLoLo tries to guess it by asking up to 20 yes/no questions. It's completely free and runs in your browser — no installation needed.

How does it work? Is it AI?

No — no AI service is called during gameplay. VayLoLo uses a knowledge matrix containing the answers of thousands of objects to hundreds of questions. In each round, it mathematically picks the question that best splits the remaining candidates (using information gain / entropy). So you're not facing a wizard — you're facing a very good statistician.

Is the game free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it's completely free and requires no account. Just open the site and start playing. The site is supported by ad revenue.

Which languages are supported?

Turkish, English, and German. The site automatically detects your browser's language preference; you can switch anytime using the language menu in the top right corner.

What can I think of?

Concrete objects work best: animals, household items, foods, vehicles, tools, clothing... Famous people and abstract concepts (like love or freedom) are not supported yet.

VayLoLo couldn't guess my object. Why?

There are two possible reasons: either your object isn't in the database yet, or some of your answers differed from what the system expected. In both cases, if you type in your object at the end of the game, it gets added to the system or its existing data gets updated based on your answers. Every lost game actually makes VayLoLo smarter.

Does answering "Don't know" or "Sometimes" ruin the game?

No — quite the opposite! Giving a wrong "Yes" or "No" to a question you're unsure about misleads the guess. "Don't know" simply excludes that question from the reasoning, while "Sometimes" correctly expresses properties that depend on the situation. Honest answers are always the best strategy.

How does the game get smarter over time?

Every completed game teaches the system something. When a guess is correct, the object's data gets fine-tuned with your answers; when a guess is wrong and you report the real object, that data gets strongly updated. Newly suggested objects are added to the game after review.

How can I play with a friend?

Use the challenge mode: pick an object and a unique link is created for you. Send the link to a friend — how many questions will VayLoLo need to guess their object? Whoever finds the hardest object wins.

What data is stored?

VayLoLo has no user accounts. Only anonymous game results (questions asked, answers given, whether the guess was correct) and the selected language are stored. No personal data is collected; see our privacy policy for details.

I accidentally gave a wrong answer. What happens?

A single wrong answer usually doesn't ruin the game — the system is tolerant of answer mismatches and lowers a candidate's probability instead of eliminating it entirely. But several wrong answers make guessing much harder. Your best bet is to start a new game.

Does VayLoLo work on my phone?

Yes, the site is mobile-friendly and works smoothly on phones. There's also an Android app available.
