How to Play

VayLoLo is a modern take on the classic game of 20 questions. You think of an object, and VayLoLo tries to guess it by asking yes/no questions. The rules are simple — but the logic behind them is surprisingly powerful.

Step by Step

1. Think of an object. It can be anything: an animal, a household item, a food, a vehicle... Just pick something concrete. Don't tell anyone — keep it in your head.
2. Answer the questions. VayLoLo asks you up to 20 yes/no questions: "Is it alive?", "Is it found at home?", "Does it run on electricity?" You can answer each question in four ways.
3. See the guess. Once VayLoLo is confident enough — or after 20 questions — it announces its guess. If it's right, it wins; if not, it gets two more tries.
4. Teach it. If all three guesses are wrong, you can type in the object you were thinking of. VayLoLo gets smarter for the next game — you've just helped improve it.

The Answer Options

• Yes — if the question is clearly true for your object.
• No — if the question is clearly false for your object.
• Sometimes — if it depends. For "Does a cat live outdoors?", answering "Sometimes" makes perfect sense.
• Don't know — if you're not sure. This answer never hurts you; VayLoLo simply leaves that question out of its reasoning.

Tips

• Stick with your first object. Switching objects mid-game makes your answers inconsistent and the guess impossible.
• Think of the typical form. If you picked "phone", picture an ordinary smartphone, not an antique model from the 1920s.
• When unsure, say "Don't know". A wrong "Yes" or "No" does far more damage than an honest "Don't know".
• Try hard objects. Beating VayLoLo is part of the fun! Objects it can't guess get added to the system — the game gets richer for everyone.

An Example Game

Say you're thinking of a guitar. The game might go like this:

• "Is it alive?" → No
• "Is it found at home?" → Sometimes
• "Does it run on electricity?" → Sometimes (electric guitars exist!)
• "Does it make sound?" → Yes
• "Is it a musical instrument?" → Yes
• "Is it a string instrument?" → Yes
• My guess: Guitar! 🎸

Notice how each answer narrows down the candidates among thousands of possible objects. In every round, VayLoLo picks the question that best splits the remaining candidates — that's why some questions may surprise you.

Play with Friends

Besides the classic mode, there's a challenge mode: pick an object, send the generated link to a friend, and see how many questions VayLoLo needs to guess it. Whoever finds the hardest object wins!
